Abstract

Logotherapy, developed by Viktor Frankl, established itself as the third Viennese
school of psychotherapy, alongside Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalysis and Alfred Adler's Indivi
dual Psychology. Differing from these approaches, Logotherapy emphasizes the existential and
spiritual dimensions of the human being, highlighting the "will to meaning" as life's primary
motivator. This article reviews the historical genealogy of Logotherapy, situating it within the
context of Depth Psychology and exploring its theoretical and practical innovations. The con
cept of "psychotherapy of heights" is discussed as an integration between the psychic depths
and the noetic heights, encompassing values and fundamental meanings for human existence.
Frankl criticized psychotherapeutic approaches that dehumanized the patient, treating them
solely as an object of analysis, and proposed a three-dimensional view of the human being, in
tegrating the somatic, psychic, and spiritual dimensions. By introducing the noetic dimension
into clinical practice, Logotherapy promotes an ethical and methodological approach that hu
manizes psychotherapeutic practice, expanding treatment possibilities for existential frustra
tions and voids. It is concluded that Logotherapy offers a true anthropological revolution in
the field of psychotherapy, presenting itself as a comprehensive and transformative proposal
for mental health care.
