Abstract

Prevention and promotion of mental health were a constant concern of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (LEA) as a theory centered on the meaning of life. Therefore, the objective was to describe and analyze the degree of theoretical and methodological deepening of interventions that use LEA to promote the meaning of life, prevent existential emptiness, prevent suicide or reduce depressive symptoms. We carried out a scope review consulting  with specialists, and searched in Pubmed and Scielo databases, with 440 results, 12 meeting the following inclusion criteria: a) articles that report interventions that used LEA as the basic theory or in some component of the intervention, having as outcome promoting the meaning of life or prevention of existential emptiness or reduction of depressive symptoms or suicide prevention; b) articles with full text available; (c) articles written in English, Spanish or Portuguese. The results indicate that the most present concepts were attitudinal, experiential and creative values, although the interventions were heterogeneous regarding the outcome and target audience variables. It is concluded that the interventions have a satisfactory degree of theoretical deepening in logotherapy, but in methodological terms there is still much to advance.
